  • Identify the mission and vision of EdReports.
  • Understand the impact quality learning materials have on student achievement.
  • Identify the steps in the EdReports review process that support schools and districts in quality materials selection.
  • Interpret the gateways, criteria, and indicators in the EdReports' review tools as they apply to the review process.
  • Search for, and summarize, the results of instructional materials' reviews available from EdReports.
  • Discover Ohio's plan to ensure students have access to high-quality instructional materials.  
  • Explore EdReports' adoption steps and learn how to implement to support the materials selection process.  
  • Apply enhanced reports, including technology information, to the material selection process.
  • Compare and contrast instructional materials based on the EdReport reviews.
  • Reflect on learning by sharing information with others.

 

In this class, you will work through several lessons to learn how to navigate the EdReports site and implement the reports into the material adoption process. Below is a description of each lesson and an estimate of the amount of time it may take to complete each one.

Getting Started
  • Pre-test: Take a quiz to find out what you know or need to know about EdReports. 5 minutes
  • Welcome to the EdReports Class: Review the course objectives and the course overview. 5 minutes
Using EdReports
  • Why Quality Materials Matter: Learn more about the mission and vision of EdReports and the research on the importance of using high-quality instructional materials. Watch a short video and answer discussion questions. 20 minutes
  • Understanding the Review Process: Learn about the educator-led process used to review materials. Watch a short video and answer discussion questions. 20 minutes
  • Understanding the Review Tools: Unpack the rubrics and evidence guides used for reports. Learn more about Gateways criteria, and indicators. 25 minutes
  • Reading the Reports: Find relevant reports and learn more about what information is included. 20 minutes
  • What Have You Learned So Far? Take a short quiz to check what you know. 5 minutes
Applying EdReports to Your Materials Selection Process
  • Ohio Materials Matter: Learn more about resources to support Ohio's schools and districts when choosing a new curriculum. 15 minutes
  • Using EdReports Adoption Steps: Consider the steps used by EdReports for material adoption. Continue to work as a team to use action checklist items and resources to choose materials for your district or school. 30 minutes
  • Reports with Technology as a Consideration for Material Selection: Find reports with criteria for technology included. Learn more about what to consider when looking for materials with technology components to support remote and hybrid learning. Continue work with district or school team to explore the best materials for students. 30 minutes
  • Using the Compare Materials Feature: Use tips to navigate reports using the compare tool in EdReports. Complete the steps and finalize your school or district's choice for materials. 45 minutes
Checking your Learning
  • Self-Assessments: Answer questions to reflect on what you learned. 15 minutes
  • Contact Hour Quiz and Certificate: Take a quiz to earn a certificate for 4 contact hours. 5 minutes
